Advanced technology

What is ADAS?

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems β€” the safety features that use a camera mounted behind your windshield to read the road. They include:

Why it matters

Why calibration is needed

Your ADAS camera looks through the windshield. When new glass goes in, the camera’s angle can shift by a fraction of a degree β€” enough for your safety systems to react late, or not at all.

Calibration re-aims the camera to factory specifications so lane-keeping, braking, and cruise control work as they should.

Know your cost upfront

What does ADAS calibration cost?

Here’s how it works with and without a claim.

Through an SGI glass claim

Included

Calibration is covered as part of your windshield replacement claim at no extra cost to you.

Paying out of pocket

Typically $300–$500

Done on its own, calibration usually costs $300–$500 on top of the windshield.

Standard plates ($700 deductible)

Often worth claiming

Windshield plus calibration on a 2018+ vehicle often costs more than $700, so a claim usually saves you money.

In-house, start to finish

How calibration works at Mike's

1

We replace your windshield

We install your new windshield and let the adhesive cure properly.

2

We calibrate in-house

We recalibrate your camera and sensors to factory specs β€” no dealer visit needed.

3

We test and confirm

We check that your safety systems are working before you drive away.

How long does it take?

Windshields with cameras or sensors may take the full day so calibration is done properly. Drop off in the morning, or use our key drop the night before.

Does my vehicle have ADAS?

Look for a camera housing behind your rear-view mirror. Most 2018+ vehicles have one. Not sure? Call us with your year, make, and model.

Yes. When you go through an SGI glass claim, calibration is included as part of your windshield replacement.

Typically $300–$500 when done separately.

We don’t recommend it. An uncalibrated camera can make lane-keeping, emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control unreliable.
